In 1947, a group of Marine Reservists lead by Major Bill Hendricks collected around 5,000 toys and handed them out to underprivileged children in Los Angeles. This charitable act was inspired in part by Hendricks’ wife, Diane, who felt frustration after being unable to find an organization that would accept and donate her homemade doll.

Thus began Toys for Tots, a program now run by the United States Marine Corps Reserve that has given out roughly 512 million toys to hundreds of millions of needy children.

On December 3, the organization is taking up temporary residency in an unlikely spot: The parking lot of Wisconsin’s Lambeau Field. Capitalizing on the love of Wisconsin's love of football, The Green Bay Packers’ Toys for Tots collection will take place at the historic stadium prior to the Green Bay Packers-Tampa Bay Buccaneers game.  Read more...

Don't believe everything you read.

As many Harry Potter fans know, for the series' 20th anniversary this year Bloomsbury released new editions of the first book. These new editions come in four different designs, one for each of the four Hogwarts Houses, with extra features and fun facts tailored to each.

Though these new editions hit shelves this past summer, eagle eyed readers are now noticing some pretty blatant errors in the books.

First reported on the fan site The Rowling Library, the Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw editions have a facts page in the back about the professors who head those Houses, Sprout and Flitwick respectively. The books list those two as having once dated. As adorable and odd-coupled as that would have been, it's also completely made up. Read more...

We can always count on Jason Momoa's enthusiasm to get us through the day, whether he's brightening up Justice League with his bro-speak or geeking out about Game of Thrones, the show that killed him off back in Season 1 but still retains his eternal loyalty.

During a recent visit to Belfast to see his buddies — but not to reprise his role as Khal Drogo ("He’s dead! He can’t come back, it wouldn’t work," Momoa insists) — the Aquaman star apparently found out a lot more than he wanted to about Game of Thrones' final season.

If President wants to move out of the White House and onto one of his golf courses, there would be millions of Americans who'd be thrilled to say, "Bye, Felicia."

Sadly, it wouldn't be cheap. The Secret Service reportedly spent close to $7,500 on golf carts alone this Thanksgiving so they could protect the president while at his private golf course in Mar-a-Lago, according to a new report by USA Today.

Keep in mind, this taxpayer money is going straight to the club that he owns, now under the ownership of his children.
